Forbes has highlighted that Young people aged 16 to 24 feel more lonely than any other age group, including people aged 65 and over. Indeed, 73 percent of Gen-Z report feeling alone sometimes or always.. Our society is chronically online, and this takes time away from other activities. This means less time for meetups. Humans are inherently social, and Gen Z are struggling with basic social skills that have a detrimental effect on mental well-being.
Psychology Today has talked about: Ninety-one percent of Gen Z adults say they have experienced at least one physical or emotional symptom because of stress, such as feeling depressed or sad (58 percent), or lacking interest, motivation, or energy (55 percent). Our society is living in an overstimulated environment where we often take the easy way out, scrolling our problems away rather than looking for a long-term solution that might be more difficult.
Newsweek has discussed that: Studies have consistently shown that higher rates of social media use are associated with poor mental health, and Gen Z is the most digitally connected generation yet. Social media has placed Gen Z in an alternate reality where everyone is at their best, looks the prettiest, and millionaires grow on trees. Real life is different, and constant comparison to people in this alternate reality negatively affects our mental health and creates unrealistic expectations that make our achievements look negligible.
We think that there is a need for intervention and place for the right influence as tech companies are armed up with an army of psychologist and inexhaustible funds to fight for your time and attention. We firmly believe that this is a societal crisis and without solution it will decrease general well being that will alter all aspects of our life. This problem can be solved but it needs to be acknowledged and prioritized.
We are building an event based social media platform where users can create, share and join events. Our goal is to help you decrease your screen time and maximize the time you spend with your friend this is the principle is the core of our design leading to a distraction free environment with sole focus on social connection. We prioritize safety working on various features to establish trust between users one feature we implemented is posts specifications that helps the users avoid fakes. We are working on using gamification to create the instant gratification related to meeting people to help you move away from traditional social media. We will be leveraging psychological nudges to motivate you to go out and enjoy life to its fullest. Our company is made of young professionals who have first-hand experience with the problem and in actively searching for new information to improve the product to help you. We are committed to solving the problem and becoming net benefit to society.
Other companies aim at maximizing your screen time without regards to how many connections you make or if you find the information you searched for. Facebook events are hidden behind a flow of engaging posts that are selected for your personal taste. This makes it hard to keep focused on your original goal and leads you to wasting your time without any benefit to you.
Other platforms lack the functionality to differentiate events from general content making it hard to filter them out from other content. Chats are behind the same wall making it hard to resist the spiral of endless scrolling.
Many platforms are focused on sharing your experiences at their best not about living them. They are often far from real experience and discourage people who might have different experiences. We limit the possibility of sharing unrelated experiences and focus on making you live them. We believe that there is no need for posting every aspect of your life rather than living it and being in the moment.
Social connections have a significant positive impact on your mental health and decrease the chance of becoming depressed or struggling with anxiety. They teach you the necessary skills to have healthy relationships and improve your social skills that are also essential for your career.
We are not only building a platform but trying to push for societal change and helping gen Z and people who struggle with loneliness to establish connections. Increase in personal meetups will bring people together and people can see the world from a different perspective outside of the online bubble that is established by the algorithms used for keeping you engaged.
